Katherine McGuire, PLPC
Katherine received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Orleans. Katherine has lived in New Orleans since 2007 when she received a bachelors degree in Sociology and Gender Studies from Loyola University of New Orleans. While receiving her master’s, Katherine worked extensively with the recovery community and received supervision at Addiction Recovery Resources. Katherine takes an integrative approach in treating substance abuse, incorporating techniques from CBT, DBT, narrative and art therapy, family systems, and Adlerian therapy.
Katherine’s goal is to promote wellness in recovery–by creating a healthy, personalized balance for each client that encompasses all areas of life. Katherine views counseling in recovery as a collaborative relationship between the client and counselor, that aims to empower the client to achieve their personal goals. Katherine enjoys working with individuals from all areas of the LGBTQIA umbrella and a wide breadth of cultural and religious identities and is an advocate for multicultural empowerment in the therapeutic setting.
